A distinctive woman and a preserved general store
Pernille Waage, known as Nillo at Skjeret, lived from 1898 to 1992. She ran the small general store at Skjeret and became an institution in the local community.
The shop was a place for trade, news and meetings between people. The setting offers a close view of how a local general store could be both a workplace and a social centre in a small coastal community.
The shop is preserved
The historic shop setting has been preserved and is used for interpretation during the summer season. Access and opening hours may vary and must be checked with the responsible local operator before visiting.
