Explore the archipelago from the sea
The sound, islets and outer islands are a major part of the Brandasund experience. You can explore the area by kayak or your own boat, or join a local provider for an organised boat or RIB trip.
What is possible depends on the weather, sea, experience and available local services. Prices, capacity and departure times must always be checked directly with the provider. Visit Brandasund does not sell trips or accept bookings.
Possible activities
- kayaking or SUP in sheltered waters when conditions are suitable
- a boat trip through the archipelago
- an organised RIB trip
- a trip to Slåtterøy Lighthouse or Utslåttøy
- fishing with legal equipment and knowledge of the current rules
Local activities and contact information are available from Brandasund Kultur & Fritid.

Sea safety before your experience
- Wear a life jacket.
- Check the weather, wind, waves and currents before departure.
- Use up-to-date nautical charts and suitable navigation equipment.
- Carry enough fuel or battery capacity and have a plan for your return.
- Tell someone your route and when you expect to be back.
- Turn back early if conditions change.
Read the Norwegian Sea Safety Council’s boating safety rules and use the Norwegian Coastal Administration’s wave and current forecast.
